Comic Art Classes
Our AFTER SCHOOL COMIC ART CLUB for kids has now been runing successfully for a few years. We teach the students the basic skills required for comic artists to draw their favourite comic characters or create their own characters and books. Basics such as pencils, colouring materials and paper will be provided for the art classes but you are welcome to bring your own art materials if you prefer.
Classes are currently offered for ages 8 -16. We also offer comic book art classes for both individual 1-to-1 lessons and School visits, please enquire for more details and costs.
NEW SUMMER HOLIDAY CLASS ADDED
CREATE YOUR OWN COMICS for ages 8 -16
Monday 8th – Friday 12th July, 9.30am to 12.30pm each day
This week long course will run each morning from the 8th to the 12th of July and costs £90 (for the full week). The class will be held at the Fire Station each morning from 9.30 to 12.30, Monday – Friday. The children will have the opportunity to design and create their own comic strips over the course of the week. They will be guided through designing characters and developing their own story in comic form. We will cover how to layout a comic sequentially and instruct them on visual storytelling techniques so that they can create their own comic which they will then pencil, ink, colour and letter throughout the week.
Basic materials are provided but children are welcome to bring their own.
Places will be allocated on a first come first served basis and are available for ages 8 – 16, you do not need to have attended any of the evening classes to participate in these sessions.

(Classes are not on during School holidays)
Monday class at 5 – 6 PM
LEVEL 2: FOR AGES 12 – 16
Thursday classes at 4 – 5 PM and 5 – 6 PM
LEVEL 1: FOR AGES 8 – 14
Classes are bookable in block sessions at a cost of £45 per block (limited spaces are available and are allocated on a first come first served basis – due to class size limitations bookings are non-refundable).
Classes concentrate on the basic drawing skills required and focuses on how to draw specific items, character types, anatomy etc. through walk through tutorials.
Examples of lessons covered in Level 1 classes include:
- How to draw the human face
- anatomy and proportions
- dynamic poses
- character design
Classes require at least a basic level of drawing ability and is task and project based where the students have more freedom to interpret the brief.
Examples of lessons covered in Level 2 classes include:
- Designing covers
- Working from scripts
- Advanced character design

Cafe facilities are available downstairs during opening hours and the Tesco Cafe is available during all class times.
