Comic Art Classes
ONLINE LOCKDOWN CLASSES
for ages 8 – 14
As it looks like lockdown will still be in place for a while yet we are amending our classes and moving online for a period. We will be using Periscope for the main lesson and Zoom to chat afterwards (if you choose to) and discuss/show work. The new dates for the next blocks are:
Mondays at 5pm, 18th May – June 22nd
character draw-a-long class
Thursdays at 5pm, 21st May – June 25th
specific tutorials (See Level 1 description below).
Everyone who signs up for the classes can participate in both sessions each week and all of the previous Periscope sessions are recorded and stored so they can be viewed at any time too.
The block payment of £45 for the next block of online classes is due on or before Sunday the 17th of May – please fill out the contact form if you are interested and we will be in touch with more details.
DUE TO THE COVID PANDEMIC, ALL PHYSICAL CLASSES ARE CANCELLED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE
Our AFTER SCHOOL COMIC ART CLUB for kids has now been running successfully for several years. We teach children the basic skills required to draw their favourite comic characters or create their own characters and books. Basics such as pencils, colouring materials and paper will be provided for the art classes but you are welcome to bring your own art materials if you prefer.
Classes are currently offered for ages 8 -16. We also offer comic book art classes for both individual 1-to-1 lessons and School visits, please enquire for more details and costs.
Evening Class Sessions
(no classes will be on during the School Spring break)
Monday class at 5 – 6 PM – CANCELLED
LEVEL 2: FOR AGES 12 – 16
9th MARCH – 4th MAY
Thursday class at 5 – 6 PM – CANCELLED
LEVEL 1: FOR AGES 8 – 14
12TH MARCH – 7TH MAY
Classes are bookable in block sessions at a cost of £45 per block (limited spaces are available and are allocated on a first come first served basis – due to class size limitations bookings are non-refundable).
Classes concentrate on the basic drawing skills required and focuses on how to draw specific items, character types, anatomy etc. through walkthrough tutorials.
Examples of lessons covered in Level 1 classes include:
- How to draw the human face
- anatomy and proportions
- dynamic poses
- character design
Classes require at least a reasonable level of drawing ability and an understanding of the basics of anatomy, perspective etc. This class is task and project based where the students work more independently and have more freedom to interpret the brief.
Examples of lessons covered in Level 2 classes include:
- Designing covers
- Working from scripts
- Character design/redesigns
- Different comic art styles

Classroom area. 1st Floor
Fire Station Creative, Carnegie Drive, Dunfermline, Fife, KY12 7AN (next to Tesco)
Cafe facilities are available downstairs during opening hours and the Tesco Cafe is available during all class times.
